M151A1 Restoration

Unread post by Johnnyquest » May 13th, 2015, 11:13 am

This is a restoration that we started in January 2015. This one was cut. 1967 M151A1. Wanted a Ford.

Updated Post on January 6, 2016. The MUTT is essentially "done". Targeted a 1968 Vietnam deployment with the 101st Airborne 327th Infantry unit.

The "greatest hits" of the restoration are in this photo album. http://1drv.ms/1ImCPId

The full photo shoot of the restoration is in this album. http://1drv.ms/1mI6cfK

Thanks to this forum for making it easy to get it right. I am still amazed how easy it is to find most of the parts.

Some of the suppliers that I used:
TNJ Murray
Fil Bonica (he had the hard to find Battery tray)
Cameron Manufacturing and Design for floor boards and trim panels http://www.m151bodypanels.com/
MilitaryStencils.com (these were great)
Erik's Military and Industrial Supply (tail lights)

I have it's brother. 2N 9283.

Looks like a good candidate for restore, even with the cut.

The panels came from two sources http://www.m151bodypanels.com/ and Fil Bonica supplied the hard to find panel under the battery. Both are top notch. I spent a couple hours researching the "right" color for Vietnam. Good post in this forum educated me on paint. This MUTT will be honoring the 101st Airborne.

I just updated the original post. Just wanted to say thank you. This forum has been great. Between the manuals and this forum the restoration was a lot easier. The photo album links above have been updated to include photos from start to finish. Thanks again.
