Long Term 1960 Ford M151 Resto Project Pictorial History

Unread post by Austringer » January 16th, 2015, 12:10 pm

Picked up what appears to be a 1960 Ford M151 from Chuck last night and made it back to airport to pick up the wife with 5 minutes to spare.

Will keep a picture log on this forum of the progress over the next year or two as I slowly restore this diamond in the ruff. I'll take a bunch of pictures this afternoon of how she arrived back at the house. Here are some initial pictures I took for someone this morning.

Need the following items:

2. Early 2 hole windshield with correct defroster vents and canvas covered hinges
3. Early hood
4. 4 latch battery cover or a good picture of one that I can make a 2 latch into one
5. Early spare tire retainer and stamped wing-nut
6. Transmission cover with shift pattern data plate on it
7. Early contract engine data plate.

The early M151 transmissions had a tab that retains the yoke?

I would call that redundant.... if we had not just recently lost a yoke, during a test drive.

Now how would you have lost a yoke during a test drive when I know for a fact that I said something to you on a couple of occasions about that happening if you ran with no shaft?

Facts like that just get in the way of driving it around the yard a little bit. :P

To be fair, we did find it.

Of coarse you found it, all you had to do was follow the trail of gear oil to the yoke.

Looks like one so far, correct hood rests, does it have the little vent directors as shown in previous pictures I've posted. Also, it should have two defroster holes on each side (see above pictures). I'm interested in it if it's for sale.

Thanks
