Hello cleaning the front drive axel's to paint, I found one axel small outer yoke leaking grease on drivers side and a end cap with the grease nipple missing on passenger side . I was wondering if their is replacement part's avail for this also were they can be purchased ? or will I need to replace all the yokes ? :(

The grease fitting should be in the side of the tube were your hand is, in the end cap/plug there should be a pressure relief fitting.

Hi Dan Thank you. They do have the grease fittings on the side as you say ,but one of mine also has a grease fitting in the end as you can see .the other has nothing :? I had 2 spare's that I just cleaned up and one is good with a release valve the other has a plate that has been welded in place with no release valve at all . I will get the release valves from a tractor dealer and add one to the yoke that needs one and replace the other.

:) Hi. You should be able to use a freeze plug if you can find one to fit it, drill and tap it for the release valve then you can stake it in place to keep it from being pushed out when the shafts are working in and out.

Yes Dan I managed to order some valves today from Henrico, Virginia and also pick up some frost plugs to fit the yoke as soon as the valves arrive I should be good to go.Thanks Dan the info you give members it is of great value and aid :D .

I recieved the control arms today with all new bushings installed ,word of advice to anyone who takes on this job it is a real PITA to do. :x

Now I will start to reasemble a new front end for my A2 ,this is not coming together cheap .I managed to get 16 new set's of U joints from a buddy of mine in the US for $18.00 each, he seems to have the best price. I did notice that the U joints are not the same as the old ones I took off as thay do not have rubber seals to hold the grease in but that the cups are all steel :shock: I hope they work out for me.

picked up 16 U joints like this to have enough to do the 2 A2's I own .

I also fig to post the U joint info for anyone interested as it is listed as a replacment part for the orig U joints. :wink:

Thank's Mike I took your advice and had the control arms sent to a shop to have the bushings pressed in. No POR-15 on these parts but it will be added to the body before painting . :)

Now I need to wait for the Jeep M151 & M38 Mechanical Puller 7pc Tool Set NSN5180-00-627-7048 P/N 7365053 that I ordered on Ebay to arrive so I can get the rest of the job completed.
