Unread post by Cisco82 » September 14th, 2020, 4:55 pm

Hi fellows,

after many years of stop (due to many issues ongoing) i restarted my complete M151 A1 restoration ... I just would like to share with you the chassis repaired (with some patch plates over the critiral points) and completly repainted with NATO green.

This autumn / winter will be dedicated to the wiring assembly restoration and reassembly.

Nice progress on the jeep, looks great, is that a master cylinder conversion?, and what kind of moped/motorcycle is that? is it a trail bike?

When mydad bought the jeep (late 70) in italy the regulation imposed some modifications for road homologation:

1 - The rear taillight to be larger and with the directional control different from stop light so as you can see the lens has been changed (the internal side is original and the extrernal retainer as well)

2 - The brake line system to be splitted into at least two sections for safety reasons. Actually it is divided into three sections ( fw left, fw right , rear)

3 - The brake pump to have at least two outlines and the oil brake tank to be visible.

I could use the original parts (i have original brake pumps and tail light lens ) if i change the jeep homologation into an gistorical car , but to be honest i dont want to spend time and money to make my car less safer (im really afraid about the original brake system) so i decided to let the jeep as it is now.

Regarding to the brake pumpe the pedal assembly has been slightly modified to support a 70' fiat 131 brake pumps with three delivery lines, it is a good solution since it is reliable and cheap here, it is derived by the same pump used for rally championship so it is good.

Hi Francesco,

nice job! The only thing I would do different is the location of the front side marker (which I think you are using as turn signals). I would put them on the fender with the original brackets.
The brake set-up is smart. I have no issues with the original single line system but I agree, I probably would also not change it back.

Hi Horst,

you re right for side marker but it is another change due to homologation done in 70' , i cant change the position so i decided to use military side markers (in the 70' there was installed fiat round directional lamps , not so stylish i think..)
