NOS Motor - Lengthy search finally ends

Unread post by mrdibbles » January 15th, 2011, 9:18 am

Hey Guys-
After a lengthy multi-year search I've finally found and bought the NOS motor I've always wanted. I'm super happy and seriously looking forward to mating this with my NOS transmission and using the completely NOS powerpack to install into the Barstow. I couldn't have done this without the help of Mr. Recovery so Mr. R. I owe you one bigtime! The motor will arrive on Monday so hopefully soon thereafter the wrenches will start turning in the garage :D
Regards,
Matt-

Ah yes, The Barstow that you weren't going to do anything to.

Let the Dibbleization begin! I figure it will be off to the sandblaster before Feb..

Matt, you need to leave the MV alone and put your skills and energy into the Healy. You could make that a Concours winner and make some of your money back.

What is wrong with the motor and transmission in the Barstow :?:

Well... presently there is no motor or transmission in the Barstow  It's actually in being rebuilt and may be kept as a spare (for that future project). I have half a mind to get it (the motor that's being rebuilt) back and bolt on the rebuilt spare transmission I have and detail the whole pack as a display for the living room? Wait... I've thought more about that I think that would be best left in the garage

Oh and Rick... I think the Healey's day is coming. Not sure when but most likely years off. Coming though.

That's great, Mr. D. I hope to see another great photo record of the Barstow's restoration.

What did it smell like, opening up that container? I bet that was an unforgettable part of the joyous experience!

Mmmmm.....that new car smell. :D

Mr. Recovery did the opening and initial inspection. I was several states away when he cracked it open but even then I did smell a hint, as faint as it was, of 1983 in the air. Smelled like a little Culture Club mixed in with a sprinkle of Knight Rider. To truly know though Mr. R will have to chime in and let us know!

 It was like a fine Cigar! Like the smell of "Napalm in the morning" or, opening a ammo can that has been closed for 23 years with a hint of Cosmoline. 8) Not at all like a new car, more like the back of a 2 1/2 ton truck with all the canvas on it. 8)
