Graves Mt Rally 2021

Unread post by csmith » June 23rd, 2021, 7:02 pm

Who's going to Graves this Labor Day? I'll be there with my 151A2 and bringing my friend with his 57 Willys civilian (came last year and loved it)

Coming in Thursday and leaving Sat afternoon. For those who have not been and are within driving range it's a great time! Lots of great trail riding, as hard or easy as you want!

I doubt I will be able to do it again this year. The motor home just needs more than I am willing to put into it. I was going to work on it but the tires have doubled in price and that was the deal breaker. I cannot afford a cabin.

As the organizer... I will be there... :)

Hate to hear RickF is still having issues with the motorhome... Hopefully, he and I can come up with a solution for him that will allow him to make the trip...

Meanwhile, I'm looking forward to seeing those of you who can make it to the event.

Info, including registration forms and the event flyer, may be found on the event website:

Having recently (almost) finished my box truck/RV conversion, I'm now more interested in weekend jeep related trips. My wife and I are keen on attending this (also our 40th anniversary weekend). We've been discussing this with our daughter (95 bare bones, stock Wrangler) and her (mom and dad approved) boyfriend. They are looking at work schedules and vacation time. Hopefully I can have their answer and register all of us by next week. It's always looked like a great event; and I hope Rick can make it too.

You could always look at an Air B&B. We found one 1/2 hour away for $256. That is basically half of what a room would cost for the same amount of time. Just a thought.

The shirts have been ordered...
Price will be determined once the shop has completed the order and I know what the final costs are...
Chuck will have them for sale at the Registration/HQ Tent.
This year, we are honoring those who gave all in the service of our Country...

We had a great turnout for the trail cleanup weekend last week (coincided with Peach Day at Graves Mountain...).
Had crews on both Doubletop and Graves Mountains ensuring that they are ready for our event...

I find it a welcome change from my day job and truly appreciate the help given by many friends and family members, and enjoy showing off one of the family farms...

It's a lot of fun to see everyone enjoying the vehicles and getting to socialize with folks that they otherwise don't see often...
It's also a lot of fun to have the families able to participate and to see folks enjoying the other activities at the Lodge and surrounding area in addition to the activity in the rally area and on the trails...

Crossing my fingers for perfect weather...

To answer some questions that I also answered via private messages...
On-Site registration is at the HQ/Registration Tent in the middle of the main event field. Chuck will happily register you for the entire event of for a day or two...

The HQ Tent is the line up location for the organized trail rides and for Saturday's Truck Games.

Chuck will have the event t-shirts for sale. He will also have a selection of items on consignment and/or will be able to point you in the direction of the seller for items left in his care... or who has what on their trucks...

We do have an area where we shoot (the "range") that is staffed by a pair of volunteers who are certified range masters. You are welcome to bring rifles and handguns. Please remember that the focus of the event is on the vehicles and fellowship and that the two gentlemen running the range are volunteers attending the event...

Hope to see a bunch of you soon,
Cabell

The event is getting closer and closer... :)

Pre-Registrations are almost the same as last year, so we should have some nice groups heading out on the trails and hanging around the field, farm, Lodge, orchards, county roads...
