Covid Vaccine

Unread post by Redlight » February 3rd, 2021, 7:11 pm

I have just returned from my local VA where i was given the Covid Vaccine. I like many members am over 60 and is in the system. The were also taking Walk-ins. Very efficient process I got an appointment by calling this morning for an slot this afternoon. Along with this appointment, I have a scheduled date and time for the second shot. there was no line had my name at the registration desk, I filled out a health screening form , rolled up my sleeve and shot went in. Had to wait 15 minutes with plenty of space then out the door. Fast and easy. Wife still waiting to make an appointment, whenever Mass. gets its act together. I am so happy , now looking at the end of the tunnel, not just a light. I am looking forward to many MV activities this summer.
Thanks VA.

I also got my first shot today through my health insurance system. The Covid vaccination site was run by the National Guard and was VERY efficient. Damn my arm is sore! Did you get the Phizer or Modena? I got the Phizer.

I got the Phizer. No arm pain at all. Frankly very surprised by the VA but also very pleased.

You're already developing the side effect of the vaccine Rick...spelling errors. It's Pfizer / Moderna
Seriously, I'm glad you guys are getting the vaccine over there. I had the Pfizer too. Apart from a sore arm, I also had mild flu like symptoms for
24 hours. Minor inconvenience compared to the benefits. I'm still required though to test myself at home twice a week for work purposes. Our second dose will be administered within a 12 week timeframe.

Got both of mine from Pfizer. Just a little sore at the site of the injection both times. A little fatigue after shot number 1 which I cured with coffee. Still masking up and doing all the usual precautionary things, though.

No other symptoms other than a sore arm at the injection site. No fever or fatigue. My second shot is 21 days. I just read in the paper this morning that they are stretching out the shots in Europe. I hope that works out for you.

Hi Guy. Maureen is still off work but she is improving gradually. It's now been 10 months since we were both infected. Her next review will be middle of March. Finally saw the neurologist a week ago and was prescribed medications for her neuropathic pain. The neurologist also organised a MRI spine and nerve conduction studies as routine investigations.

I am to get the 1st vaccine shot tomorrow, then the second one a month later.Makes wonder why some places have different time periods between the 2 shots.Heard there were bad reactions to the vaccine, which probably is an individual reaction to it, just like a flu shot. But this reminds me of how scary NBC warfare is.

Pfizer vaccine is 21 days between shots and Moderna is 28 days between shots. That is just how they were developed. Pfizer need to be kept at extreme cold temps and Moderna does not. The only really bad reactions to the shots are the rumors circulated on the internet by the people that are against the vaccines.

Wife and I both have received first dose of Pfizer vaccine. Got mine on 29Jan, she got her’s yesterday. Wife wasn’t able to get when I did because of steroid shot. No steroids 7 days prior to virus shot. No side effects for us. Arm was sore day of shot then nothing. Was a drive through event. Register online. Get appointment. Arrive to be told “you are not on our list”. Show them the printout and all is well. I asked two different nurses yesterday about getting 2nd shot. Was told for Pfizer 21 to 42 day window from date of first shot.
I’m sure there are some on this forum that remember getting the polio vaccine sugar cube. In our small west TEXAS community EVERYONE lined up three Sunday afternoon in a row. Done deal. Simple. No signup, just show up.
One thing I have noticed about receiving the vaccine.....everyone is carrying a clipboard. Radar O’Reilly syndrome? Doesn’t matter....we got our first shot, got our shot card, and now are in the system. Am praying for good health to all.

When it comes to the two-shot vaccine, the fly in the ointment is that a lot of people aren't going back for the second half. Very strange. A team of wild horses couldn't have dragged me away from that second shot. There is just no accounting for some folk.

Do I feel any safer for having had it? Not a lot. Every new infection increases the risk of a new, mutated strain...something that vaccine doesn't account for. But, the mask has become a sort of norm, though I continue to get out of the truck without it and have to go back...

On the bright side, let us hope that all this additional care given to not catching a Covid bug has some additional benefit when it comes to not catching other bugs. That would be lovely.
