Re: Future of MV Hobby???
One of the things, I fear, that the Kung Flue will hurt the hobby is exactly what Guy is saying. Still a large part of the hobby that does not even do emails. Our business, Vehicles of Victory, gets orders over the phone or by a letter in the snail mail with a personal check. Many members attend conventions, swap meets, rallys and events, but do not do the Internet thing. With no events to go to, it's a year off for some members who don't have a lot of years left.
As to the future of the hobby? Here's mine . . .

Rick, I'm by no means supporting FB. I'm not even on FB. My point is, there is a much larger market and people outside of the forums. If one gauges the hobby strength by these sites, they are not looking at the whole picture. I wish there was more activity on the 3 sites. They are a great resource. But like I said, it's limited. Hats off to those that post!

I agree, not all the mv owners are on forums, no one I've bought a mv from was a forum member.

Start by telling us something about yourself
Where do you live

AB.... You've already started where you've shown an interest in olive drab stuff and you're asking questions. That's a good thing! Look around the area where you live. Are there any historical military associations within easy driving distance? Have you seen any old military vehicles near-by? Owners of these kind of vehicles are usually approachable and may be willing to share information. Checkout any parades that may occur in your area. Historic Military Vehicles (HMV's) are sometimes part of that. Checkout MVPA.org for any affiliate groups that may be active nearby. Also check websites such as this one along with others (G503.com, WillysMJeeps.com, eWillys.com) to name a few depending on your interest.
Or simply indicate your zip code in a reply if you live in the U.S. and we can help. Good luck and thanks for reaching out.

Re: Future of MV Hobby???
After attending a few "live" events in the past few weeks and reflecting on the 9 "dead" month, I'll just go on record as saying the hobby is "changing".
Not better, not worse, just adapting. While some funds are scarce, that has never stopped the hobby from bartering goods, parts or services. I've got the same 2400 sq ft of parts for restoration projects, they are just ent parts than I had y 1. I've helped a lot of club members with the vehicles and added some new ones to the club and lost a few to old age and death. The later being a good opportunity to help the family of the deceased member find e for that military vehicle and keep it close to home.
And, guess what? Next year, it will change again.
