REAL military vinyl lettering
Gents, I'm looking for a source for the correct military 3" tall, vinyl stickers, in order to freshen up my Goat's USMC markings as seen below (letters and numbers)...or, if you know the correct font, that would be useful information as well. What I want to do is put new vinyl stickers directly over the old.
Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide.
Cheers,
TJ

Re: REAL military vinyl lettering
I'd go right to Rick Larsen at Military Stencils. He offers a vinyl letter kit as wel as a stencil kit. I don't know about Marine yellow, but if anyone did, it would be he. He may want to see your photos to make sure his correct font will fit over yours. I just sanded off my Army vinyl lettering in preparation of painting stencils on my A1. The Bubba vinyl was missing in spots and coming off the jeep in others, so I was not interestinged in placing my new letters over his old and having them fall off the jeep due to his poor adhesion. If you are comfortable with your current letters and numbers adhesion, go for it.

I have bought from this company also. Nice products. However, I use a local company for stencils. 2” Gothic numbers and letters. Cost is much less for my needs.

Thanks for the input, fellas. Delta Team has an interesting and informative bit on MV markings on their website.

Re: REAL military vinyl lettering
Delta Team certainly seems affordable. I did not see them offered, so I emailed them about M151 sets and anything in decals in US Marine yellow. I will let you know what they say. Gret option as I have one mutt and two M37 projects in the shop for markings. They offer M37 sets, but did not show a M151 option.

Re: REAL military vinyl lettering
Delta emailed and said they can do a MUTT set and they can do yellow. Of course if you just wanted paint masks, it doesn't mattery to them what color you spray. But if you want the US Marines decals, then, yes, you would need to specify the yellow.
I think I'll give them a try on my MUTT paint masks as I haven't decided what color I will paint the unit markings on the bumper of a camo jeep.

Gold is the proper word, though what the difference in appearence is subject to debate.

In the early '80's They were are all re-stenciled in flat black (USMC) not sure about Army. So both would be correct. Cheers

Re: REAL military vinyl lettering
I have emailed Delta again to see what their options are on vinyl. If I can get a flat black, that might be way to go on a camo scheme and just make sure the background color is light green or sand. I don't know about flat black stars, though. Seems kind of evil. Even though a camo vehicle would not have stars at all, I am leaning towards side rear quarter panel stars and two on the front cowl aprons. Probably not a large hood star. We'll see what Delta comes back with.

I saw them stuck in Vietnam, usually on the side of a road in a ditch where it was swamped on one side and the other side was basically not touching the ground.
