Some wonderful news
Our member Jay Mallari posted here a while ago to tell us of him and his wife's battle with the coronavirus infection....as you may remember, his wife Maureen was very ill and Jay feared the worst.
I emailed him a couple of days ago and I must admit I was somewhat reluctant to ask him how things turned out but...the wonderful news is that his wife is safe and recovering and has now been allowed home.
Jay writes: "Hi Ken. I hope you and your family are safe and well. Maureen was discharged from Harefield after being in the hospital for 65 days. She spent 31 days in intensive care and was stepped down to an HDU (high dependency unit) where she was looked after until she got discharged on June 9th.
She's been home now for just over five weeks. Incidentally, I had annual leave booked for three weeks when she was discharged so I was able to look after her at home. I originally requested that leave last year as I was planning to go home to the Philippines for my dad's first year death anniversary. But due to the pandemic, everything was canceled."
He adds that wife Maureen has a long and difficult recovery ahead, Jay has fully recovered and has now returned to work at the hospital.
He adds...."It's a miracle she survived her ordeal. We are very grateful for everyone's support and prayers. Some of the guys from G838 pm'd me back in May to send their best wishes."
I'm sure that when Jay finds the time, he will pop in here and say hello to everyone. I'd like to think that all the prayers and good wishes helped in producing a wonderful result for Jay and Maureen.
Jay sent me some short videos of Maureen's discharge from the hospital so if anyone wants to see the happy event, please contact Jay or me.
Stay well....

That is fantastic to hear. I know the last thing we heard was not very promising. 65 days is a looong time and I know a lot of that was on a ventilator.

Re: Some wonderful news
Jay is a really nice guy and I know how worried he understandably was about Maureen's condition, on top of himself being knocked down by Covid. They both represent the admirable qualities of all their colleagues in our National Health Service here in the UK and, I am sure health professionals and workers around the world serving us all.
I met Jay a couple of years ago when, during a business trip to London near where he works in one of our busiest hospitals, he kindly took time out of a rare break in his duties to hand over a steering wheel for my A2 and we had an all too short chat about Mutts, then he was hurrying back to the ward.
All the best to you sir, and to Maureen.
