Probably because Facebook is a better platform for his videos. There are a lot of people that think these forums are on the way out and swear by Facebook. I hate Facebook, I hate Zuckerberg and all he stands for. To each their own.

If you're referring to Mike Watson, I find his videos interesting to watch, if they do drag a little with the personalization he adds to the information. I've noticed on a few of the M151-related clips that his information is a bit incorrect, but he seems to work around the error successfully.

I don't see it as a replacement for forums such as this one, just another layer of information to be sifted and evaluated, then implemented as the viewer/reader seems fit.

I agree with rickf. Don’t like Facebook or Zuckerburg for lots of reasons. Question ?? How were 18 and 19 year old draftees able to work on the M151 series back “in the day”. Because TM’s have print and pictures to go along together. This type platform will hang around for same reasons. Print and pictures. Yes, I’m old school. University of Hard Knocks like so many of y’all. (Some TEXAS lingo) Grew up on cotton farm. To many youngsters today DON’T need to read because they watch a video. Sad times.

Yeah, text and pictures are 'tops' in my opinion. Sometimes the haste and flow of a video whisks you right past what you really wanted to see (which, maddeningly, always seems to be the case.) Videos have their place to be sure...but the forums are a Question and Answer platform that's hard to beat.

I tried that here on our site about the steering column. Got shot down and told to go read a book. nana

Ok, Here's the deal, On the thread where you posted about the steering column we all told you to look in the manuals, Mainly because I doubt any of us has had to do that job or if we did we do not remember what is there. It WILL be in the manual. So what you want us to do is for one of US to do the looking for you. Here is exactly what you posted.

Rick, -20 or -30 I am not getting it. ?? I don't own any TM's, or know where to download this info. Thanks !!
Just above the title here under the header picture, where it says manuals. I am the absolute last person that will say RTFM but I also will say that you have to have a working knowledge of the vehicle. You are always asking us to help you with this stuff but I think a lot of it you can probably find and or do yourself. Then if you still have questions then you ask but you at least have a picture in your mind by that time.

Sorry, I thought this site was for help. ?

Yes, This site is for help. We are here to help YOU repair your vehicle. We are NOT here to actually do all the work to repair your vehicle FOR YOU! This is a hobby and part of the hobby is doing the research on the vehicle, finding the parts and doing the repairs. You seem to always want one of us to do the research, find the parts and tell you exactly what bolt to turn. I cannot tell you how much time I have spent looking in manuals and perusing the net looking for parts for people, including you. But you always come back with these responses that demand a response from someone that is going to eventually lead to you accusing one of us, probably me, of attacking you. I see it coming.
I did not learn all that I know from people doing the work for me, I learned it by doing it myself, by making the mistakes and learning from them. I have read hundreds of manuals, I still read manuals. I am an expert in automotive wiring but I still need to look at the diagrams to make sense of the mess in a timely manner. You will never learn unless you start doing this stuff yourself. You say in that post "-20 or -30 I am not getting it.??? You have told us you were in charge of a motor pool and you don't get the -20 and -30?

I have been generally staying out of this besides offering what advice I could since I have no idea what is supposed to be in the column besides a bushing or two. But this is the second time you have tried to elicit a response so this time you got one. I am not going to say anymore, the other guys are doing a fine job of trying to help you but they are not going to do the job for you. Do not dump on them for that! And you were NOT shot down, you were given advice on what you needed to do!

Message received. I was not looking to cause trouble. Peace to all, and I am sorry.
I will break down and buy some TM's. I just don't know what a 24 manual is.

The 24 manual got me too, I have seen it with other equipment but not the 151. The manuals you need to be interested in the most are the -20, -20P, -34 and -34P. The P denotes Parts manuals and they are my goto manual for blowup diagrams of all the things you need to work on. I will bet that if you look up that steering column in the either the -20P or the -34P you will find a blow up of all the parts as they go in place. The -20 manuals are for the mechanics at the motor pool level and they cover the more basic things like oil changes and tune ups. The -34 manuals are for the mechanics at the depot level and they cover all the things that have to do with rebuilding the parts. You can download all of the manuals for free from the site here in the manuals section while you are looking for the paper versions.
