Just to get a leg up on Rick  , I believe your pioneer rack is from a M37, and he owns one., but I think other models used that rack.

My pioneer rack is buried at the bottom of a huge pile of parts so I have no idea what it looks like!

At a glance, I would say that rack appears to be the correct style for the M35 series of truck.

Am working from memory, and I will admit mine suffers at times. I don't remember seeing the horseshoe on my m109a3, but i could be wrong and haven't checked it recently. Lack of sleep and an impacted molar have me kind of loopy right now, so I still haven't gotten back to work on it as I don't want to screw something up due to my attention being elsewhere.

Today I rerouted a water line so I can get a hose to the pressure washer and start scrubbing it down a bit, am going to move my main air compressor from the front yard to the back yard (as the mini compressor suxxxxxxxxx). Picked up jack stands to get it off the ground and get the wheels off of it. slow progress, but progress...

Plans for now are:
jack it up and get it on stands
start removing wheel hardware for tire change, de-rusting, and brake component evaluation
oil and filter change
remove carb for cleaning and measurement, possible rebuild (possible replacement with a harley carb)
pressure wash inside of gas tank with water/degreaser mix, let sit for an hour or day, then pressure wash and flush with clean water, dry with heat gun for a few hours, then oil fog or wd40
remove starter and transmission top to see wth is going on with it
de-link clutch slave and see if the clutch linkage is mobile
photograph every part i can, paying special attention to any casting marks, numbers, etc.

and that's it for now, evaluation and updates after I get some more work done on it.. Hopefully tomorrow or sometime this weekend.

Dad is at audie murphy right now, so waiting to see if he is being admitted or if they figure out what is going on with his ventilator settings and if he has an intestinal blockage.

Btw rick, guess you were right, it just moved up on my priority list ;)

As for the pioneer tools, I still don't have a proper set for the m109, so guess I will be spending a little bit of time when i am at local hardware stores measuring things out.

oh yeah, TJ, in response to an earlier comment in case I didn't comment already... I am more than happy to accept help :)

I seem to be a magnet for weird projects.. the CN-40-A is a prime example... got it home, got it running.. and.. no manuals.. pretty sure it needs brakes done, new gas tank, and a clutch... transmission works though, I can 100% guarantee that as it started itself and drove into a guardrail while i was in the house ;)

It wasn't a runaway truck, it just decided to stretch it's legs after sitting for years and wanted to say hi to a guardrail. :D

Let me rephrase that for you.

Since I pretty much took the weekend to kick back and work on other stuff, catch up on sleep, and just relax in general... An update is overdue.

The tldr version is nothing was done this weekend...

The full version is:
Cleaned up a load of used oil, atf, gear oil, old gas; and it is now in 5 gallon jugs awaiting final filtration before being stored in a 55 gallon drum.
Disposed of a load of old oil containers.
Moved my larger compressor to the rear drive so I now have access to air tools while working.
Picked up a load of fittings for the compressor and an inline dryer.
Rebuilt a kerosene heater so I don't go inside every 5 minutes yelping about the cold and humidity.
Rear of the vehicle is up on stands, but will probably reposition them as I don't think it's completely stable.
Cut a keihin carb accelerator pump cover apart to use as test material for a bunch of solvents, chemicals, etc. Not taking off the carb until I figure out a better solution for my ultrasonic cleaner.
Picked up a canopy to cover the work area, as the constant mist the last 3 days or so has pretty much stopped me from taking things apart.
Picked up a media attachment for my pressure washer so I can use it as a sand blaster.
Pulled my larger ultrasonic cleaner, and wintergreen oil out of storage for the carb rebuild.

If all goes well, I should be getting back to work on the projects this weekend. For now I am doing inventory and figuring out a path forward for all the current projects.

Here is what I use now and have used for 40 years in my business's for rebuilding carburetors. If you have ever watched the videos by Mustie1 he also uses this in a heated ultrasonic cleaner and it works even better there. I am actually looking into the Velor cleaner that he uses for more capacity. You can leave a carb in this cleaner overnight which is what I usually do. The old stuff back when they were allowed to use the "Good" chemicals, you could only leave them in there for an hour or so but they shined when the came out! Of coarse you had to use thick rubber gloves and if it got on your skin then your skin went away!

I used to use the dip quite a bit, 50-80% of it consists of naphtha, deodorized kerosene, and cellosolve. When I switched over to ultrasonics I also switched to non-flammable cleaners/degreasers. Part of it is personal preference, part of it is my own paranoia about chances of fire.

The cleaner I pulled out of storage is a 10L Trusonik, 4 emitters @ 60w each, 200w heating element, and autosweep for the tone. It looks a lot like the Vevor cleaner in the video, but most of the chinese ones look the same. I originally had a horrible freight one that worked well enough, but wanted something higher capacity. Still use the hf one for cleaning up coleman lamp and stove parts.

I had an old paint can of carb dip i found at an estate sale, that stuff was pure evil on skin but would clean just about anything. No clue what it was as "parts soak" was written on it with sharpie. MEK is still my preferred method for soaking hard to find/expensive to replace/completely trashed carbs, but have plenty of ventilation and double or triple layer the gloves ;)

Older I get, less I like messing with the really hazardous stuff. I had some parts discolor last time in a 100% solution of krud kutter, so am going to be testing formula 88, krud kutter, 2 different dilutions of sulfamic acid, and a mix that is close to what I plan on using in the ultrasonic (4 parts f88, 3 parts water, 2 parts kk, small amount of sulfamic acid). I figure I can have everything mixed up and test set up this afternoon, will check it at 5/15/30/60 then 24 hour marks until the weekend.

On the plus side, have been meaning to do this test for a while, but have been putting it off as I didn't have a carb waiting to be pulled :P

Water and phosphoric acid will clean up carbs nice but you have to get the mix right or you etch the aluminum and the problem is that different companies use different types of aluminum. Some even use magnesium. Not sure what the reaction between magnesium and phosphoric acid is and not sure I want to find out but I might just happen to have a couple old VW transmission cases laying around and they are a magnesium alloy with enough magnesium that they will burn, really bright and hot! Might have to drop a few drops on one and see.

Engine runs?
Well knock it off the jack stands, use a hammer to get the trans into 1st gear and let 'er rip. Put Rick in the passenger seat, he can just swing his legs over the side if you need to slow down!
