how many MUTTs ?

Unread post by Bernie » June 30th, 2016, 7:51 am

Hi,

1 year ago I didn't spot a MUTT on a German road. In meanwhile I know at least 6 'personally' in 20km area.
I thought most of them have been destroyed after ther US Army service, but I'm wondering how many are still 'alive and kicking'. 1,000 or 10,000 - is there an estimation ?

Cheers, Bernie

If anyone could, MUTTGURU could probably tell us how many were made-according to contracts. Then, if there are .gov records as far as how many were (supposed to be) de-milled, we could get a close idea. Might take a FOIA request, but I doubt it. There would be a handful of things to consider. Countries other than the US that bought them, natural attrition, accuracy of the records kept, but I think it could be roughly figured out.

(On a barely related thread drift, I read there are more 1934 Fords registered to today than back in the 30's. Reproductions, etc.)

Good luck.

In the uk there is an online service that checks our gov database and tells you how many vehicles of a given make or model are registered and how many of those are taxed (actually on the road)

According to that there are 2 am general vehicles registered in the uk.

1 should be mine.

So there's only 1 other?? Doubt it.

And how many demills were welded back together and put on the road. I know of quite a few of them.
