Future 151 hauler

Unread post by lpcoating » December 6th, 2019, 9:27 pm

I picked up this 1975 GMC Midas M 190 a couple months back. 58k for mileage, 350 small block, turbo 400 trans. Overall it's in good shape for what it is. Bought for the main purpose of going to military shows. Has a little water damage that's about 50% fixed, new tires due in next week. Runs great, engine is super quiet. All this fun for $1,000. Couldn't pass it up and it reeks of the 70's!

A "little" water damage? From the looks of the buckling in that siding at the back of the overhead you have more than minor issues. This was a major area pf problems with these things. Once the water got into those 1x2 frames they just disintegrated. You will have your work cut out for you but if done right it will be well worth it.

Yes, a little. Front structure that was bad has been replaced. Center of RV is good, has some issues in the back.

I would eliminate that front window as they alway leak and if they are not leaking they are condensing, but that area is always wet. If I can ever find a way to work on mine under cover that window is gone.

I've thought about removing for that reason.

I bought a toyota sea breeze, got 8, 9 miles to the gallon, this was to be my lodging while working, on the road. The big problem was to park it at a camper place they charged me more than staying at a motel.Plus I had to unhook the sewer/electric in AM to go to work, etc.Had a 6 cylinder in it, had alot of pick & go.I even poured a concrete pad along side of the garage to park it on.Didn't see any logic in keeping it.
Now I wish I'd would have kept it.Another GP story!!LOL
