Re: Beverly Hillbillies, Part Deux

Are you using regular vinegar or cleaning vinegar? If you are not using the cleaning variety I suggest you try it.

Re: fuel pump issue

To a point, 15 GPH is one quart per minute. You need a good strong flow at the carb with the line off, so no load. So that pump should be fine. Look at it this way, 15 GPH at 60 MPH is 4 MPG. LOL. I don't think you are using that much gas.

That is interesting but they definitely could have picked a better donor. That rotted out rear crossmember is a bad deal. I know CMD has shown one but I don't think they have any in production and I know for a fact that they were never a replacement item in service. To the contrary, if that crossmem...

Re: Beverly Hillbillies, Part Deux

You need an oxy-acetylene torch so you can get a lot of heat fast on a small area. A small torch just can't keep up with the heat loss through the mass of steel. I have also had luck with heating the bolt red hot and then letting it fully cool. This does a couple things, it breaks the rust up in the...

Yes, drain the oil and put in new 15W-40 Rotella or similar diesel motor oil. The diesel oils still have some of the chemicals that regular oils have lost due to emission rules. Modern gasoline engines no longer use flat tappets so they do not need zinc in the oil anymore. Get yourself a Wix 51515 a...

Re: Beverly Hillbillies, Part Deux

I can just imagine a little kid strapped to a parachute in the wind! I know what it did to me at 215 lbs. plus my pack at another 50 plus lbs.. Do you know if that chute is a T10 chute? That is what we were using when I was in but I don't know if it was the same for WWII. The T10 was steerable, or s...

Re: m151a2 will not turn over or power on

There is no separate breaker for the lights, they are hot all the time. The breaker for the lights is in the switch. But if you have no power anywhere then be sure to clean the ground from the battery to the body as Howard suggested. I don't know where this was stored but if there is evidence of mic...

Re: m151a2 will not turn over or power on

The wire you are looking for is the #5 wire and it hooks into the system at the foot starter switch. This is where the ignition switch gets power from. You need to look over the wiring very closely to make sure it is all intact before doing to much since these are known for the wiring breaking down ...

Re: Restauración A2

Well, as I mentioned before mine got hot enough to melt the plastic bag holding brake hardware. And this was not a wimpy bag, it was the original equipment bag from the 70's. Great for keeping a cup of coffee hot on cold days though.

Re: IC Suzuki elec. ignition

I remember the DD tires, I don't remember them being that squared off. The off road tires of that era were mostly rounded profile. And 32" were considered monster tires! Micky Thompson had some with a zig-zag pattern that we used to use for racing, we would cut the lateral bars out of them leav...

Re: IC Suzuki elec. ignition

Those tires are a later era than 74. 74 would not have had much choice in big tires. Armstrong Tru-Tracs or Cepek dune tires. I was running the Tru-Tracs on my Bronco with a K spec 289. Those were the years I was really big into off road racing and I was running Baja just about every year. Ran most ...
