Re: M416 trailer in TEXAS

Hello Ken (Mutt Guru). The pictures are from the my 416 trailer. The stamped dog tag was mounted on the safety chain at mounting. I had never noticed. 6P8062. I found a picture of a 416 with similar number taken in Vietnam (according to author). If this number were in fact my trailer ID 6P8062.... ...

Re: Serial Number

I am a new member and this is my first post. I purchased a 1968 Air Force M151A1 Jeep. The instrument panel Data Plate is blank on all lines. Under the hood I have BUDD# 70742 and ORD#8754459. On the engine plate I have Serial# 94203(a little faded), Part# 8754411, and Contract Number DA-20-113-AMC...

Howard.....

you may find this helpful. It's a reply to a question about separating out the rear stop lights from the turn signals.

Big George gets the credit for this :D

Re: M416 trailer in TEXAS

Any other information as to possible birthday of M416 based on serial number would be gratefully appreciated. Hello 1SGC, If you really want your trailer to be as near-correct as possible, then that "2D 3428" registration needs to be altered. The "2D" would signify a 1/4-ton truck (such as an M151)...

Re: M151A1 Data Plate

Well....it's a Ford-built M151A1. The body-tag has been removed presumably by a previous owner..... the traces of where it was are visible in the firewall picture.

Unless you can track down that missing BUDD body-tag..... I suggest that you go with the "2J" hood number.

Re: M151A1 Data Plate

Hello 1SGCAV, The Contract DA20-113-AMC-02787-(T)-(MYP) would have included the 2J-series of M151A1s and as the engine has the same contract number, it is likely that the engine is original to the vehicle. BUT .....there is no certainty that this dataplate is original to THIS body. That can only be ...

Re: First MUTT restoration-M151A1

Hello Rw, that's one lovely restoration. Congratulations. :D The BUDD Number (24363) would tie in very nicely with that hood number of 2K 5981. That would define it as follows:- - ex-US ARMY, - Ford Motor Company model M151A1, - delivered as part of Contract DA20-113-AMC-02787-(T)-(MYP) - delivered ...

Re: Door frame color

I thought I saw some door frames in sand colour along with the tan 606 vinyl top, doors and curtains when these were all the rage several years ago. Unless they were painted 606 when vehicle owners decided to change the colour of the frames from green to tan to match their newly-acquired vinyl.

Re: Ignition module compatability

Here's the Prestolite kit. It comes with a replacement for the original (points type) rotor stem but it uses the ORIGINAL-type of rotor arm. Note also that the Prestolite kit has TWO wires. It also comes with a non-magnetic (plastic) feeler gauge for setting the air gap. http://www.surfacezero.com/g...

OK Ken the date of delivery on the green on is 3/54 and the red one is 2/53. Not sure if this helps you on the hood number question.
Cobra, thanks for that. It was the 2A 7442 that needed the d.o.d. for. :D

Re: Ignition module compatability

Hambone is correct. You can't mix-n-match between the two types of SSI kits.

If you need photos of each type of kit, let me know.
