Re: Dec 7, 1941

I had 4 uncles overseas, mom made Remington Rand .45s and pop flew b-17s.By the grace of God they all came home but i think the stress killed my grandmother who died in early '46.

Connecting Rod Torque

What is the correct ft. lbs torque on the connecting rods, i read in the manual 40-55 ft lbs. Does that mean start at 40 and end at 55??

A-2 Fuel Pumps Question

I was wondering about feedback on replacement fuel pumps for the A-2s. I have two takeoff pumps that the diaphragms have petrified. Are the replacement pumps by Airtex, and who does make them if not,and are they reliable, also does someone offer rebuild kits? thanx

Re: Overheating Issues

i replaced the thermostat, poured the antifreeze that i drained out.....then added another 3/4 of a gallon,so i guess the coolant level was just low. When i removed the cap and looked in there was coolant in the top tank, just not enough.

Re: Overheating Issues

Yes i changed the thermostat, hoses are hot, coolant level correct level, cap holding pressure. I have heard of water pumps leaking ,I just dont see how it wouldnt pump water. I think i will change the thermostat first. Also i can tell its overheating not just inaccurate gauge. I will tell more tomorrow.

Overheating Issues

Took my A-2 for a ride tonight "about 9 mi." and noticed it was getting up to 220 degrees. The radiator has been flushed and the antifreeze was up to the proper level. When i took the cap off it didnt seem as though the water was moving. The system was pressurized when i took the cap off so i dont t...

Ignition left on

If the ignition is left on overnight with an electronic module in the distributor, will this definitely destroy the coil and module? I am charging the batteries now and hope she starts right up.

Brake Shoes Orientation

OK...going goofy here,I cant find in the T.M.s where it would state if the longer brake shoes go in front or in back. I believe the longer shoes are installed in the back on the Mutt. Yes or No????

Magnesium Wheels

What years were the magnesium wheels installed on the m151 series. Were they only on the straight 151's?

Re: Transmission Suppliers

I have an early take out A-1 or straight 151 engine that has a Muncie Indiana tranny attached to it and a few take out A-2 engines with Howa Machinery Corporation of Japan trannys attached. The engines are standard bill of fare. I always thought the Howa's were a good tranny, but because of our invo...
