Re: Project Jigsaw
I am curious about the driveshafts. What separates them from you while moving? That could be a messy combination!

Re: Project Jigsaw
There are some tunnel covers that are bolted in place. Honestly though, I don't feel like they are that strong and the thought of being in it when a drive shaft joint lets go at speed is terrifying...
Re: Project Jigsaw
Believe me, that joint will make enough noise before letting go that you WILL stop before something happens. A good joint does not break. Nor does a good joint make any noise so if they are talking be sure to listen.

Re: Project Jigsaw
I was wondering why there was something green on there, is that a charger?

Re: Project Jigsaw
Its home made. It used to be a military battery charger. I gutted it and used the switches and dials on the front to make a power pack. It will provide 12 volts or 24 volts to the front connectors and the slave cable connector on top gets full 24 volts and total battery amps. It has 2 tractor batteries in it and gives about 400 CCA when they are fully charged. It charges from a regular 12 volt charger using some creative wiring and switching
Re: Project Jigsaw
So you start working on Lucas electrics and now you think you are an electrical wizard huh? That happens to a lot of British car folks.

Re: Project Jigsaw
Update! So after some time with the Power Probe and lots of angry words, all the wiring is done and it all works! Side lights, blinkers, headlights, brake, etc. It runs off its own fuel tank and drives around really well. These pics are just after I put the right tires on it. All thats left is the turret, interior sheet metal and cleanup up of the wiring/routing inside. Also have a bit of painting to do to match things up on the hull. Here are some pics...

Re: Project Jigsaw
Looks real good. I see some mounting points inside forward, right with nothing there, does something go there or is that for stuff that is used only in combat? And I see the clutch pedal is on the floor? I really want to come up and see if I can actually fit in that thing. You are as tall or taller than me so I should be able to. Of coarse you are also probably 30 years more flexible than me.

Re: Project Jigsaw
Mounting points are for radio control units. The pedal is not a clutch, it is the change pedal for the pre-selector gearbox.

It's British "Light stone" color for desert camo. Has a lot more "yellow" in it then the CARC 686 "desert sand" that the US uses.raymond wrote:I don't get the color

Re: Project Jigsaw
I take my hat off to you for what you have achieved and your perseverance. In the 1960's I worked on the Ferret and the Austin Champ in the Australian army and to say we disliked doing so is a real understatement. Thank god I wasn't in an armoured division, just attached temporarily. We were so glad to see them phased out. One was kept for ceremonial duties and drove about one mile per month. They still sell for big money here.
