Re: Project Jigsaw
Actually the ferrets have a pretty good track record for reliability unlike some other MVs out there. I'm 5' 11" & 220lbs and had no problem getting in or out of one through the driver's hatch. The real challenge was shimmying down past the MG in the turret to the commander's seat. Mk.1/2s don't have that problem because of the larger cupola & external MG mount.
And yes if you own an English vehicle (be it Military or Civilian) one needs to brush up on their Lucas Electric jokes.
Why are there no tall buildings in England? Because Lucas makes elevators
Why do the British drink warm beer? Because Lucas make refrigerators

'Ya know I've always (secretly) suspected that I was some sort of "thread killer" because when I post on a thread it usually dies..... ( ) ..

I don't know if you've registered over on http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/forum.php
Here are a few threads that might be of interest to you & 00EA85.
In this thread, the author (Capt.Max)is currently rebuilding his outter hubs so there's some good pics of everything that is in there, laid out.

This one hasn't been touched in a while but ....Oh wait.....Look, I was the last one to post on that thread...

Re: Project Jigsaw
Thread is not dead I have been camping with the family the allowed me to start this "adventure" since last week!
To jump on the Lucas bandwagon I'll tell you what happened on the way home. I think the Lucas Magic is contagious because when I got to the Jugtown Mountain on rt 78 towing this on my very overloaded trailer, I lost the trailer brakes to an electrical short. Seems the British wiring above leaked its poison down onto my trailer! Anyway, terrifying final hour to the journey!!

Good to hear. Time spent with the family is always worthwhile.
BTW, Those two "Maltesers" wrappers were found under the gear box when it was removed.

Re: Project Jigsaw
I just started laying out the suspension pieces to try to get wheels on it. The inner tracta joints all seen to behave different so I have to go into the manual to make sure they are ok. The front pass one moves all around like it supposed to . The rear pass one doesn't move at all and actually fell out of the holder when I pulled on it lightly. I'm glad it didn't do that while I was towing it home
Re: Project Jigsaw
Quick update. I have 3 of the 4 wheel stations installed and working brakes on one of them! The list of missing parts continues to grow which has been making progress slow as I have to fabricate/locate the missing parts. Most substantial have been the 1 inch pins that hold the suspension arms/hubs in place. Final count is 3 missing pins, and of course all 3 are different from each other. I have to make one more and fabricate 4 bearing/spacer washer and I can finish the 4th wheel station. Then its just finding tires for a decent price and it will roll!!
Of course, then I have to figure out the wiring(Lucas nightmare) and the drivetrain

Guess you don't need those tires? They are headed for the dump next weekend unless you give me the word. I was looking forward to bringing them up to see the project.
