What do you guys think?

Unread post by moose53 » December 3rd, 2007, 6:25 pm

I'm thinking of adding a database/showcase for M151's like the one on G503 for WWII jeeps. I'm also considering a real time chat room, so we can shoot the bull in real time here. Another idea is an ftp area where manuals and stuff could be downloaded. What do you guys think of this stuff? Let me know your opinions, and if you have any ideas you think might improve the site I'd like to hear them.

Thanks,
Jim

Moose,

Great site! The only thing that's uncomfortable to the eyes is the background colors. The green, although appropriate, is too dark and it makes the text hard to see. I think your idea of downloadable manuals is excellent. I never could figure out why that wasn't done on the other site. The chat room would be helpful especially when your looking for help troubleshooting. Is it possible since this is a M151 forum only to change the address to g151.org?

thanks for the comments, I'll see what I can do to lighten the colors a bit. I named the site G838 because thats the vehicle type number assigned to the m151 series jeeps by the government. Every vehicle series has a "G" number.

I'm not sure how you would do it but the ages old question of where can I get XYZ parts for my M151 comes up often. It would be handy to have a series of links to parts dealer, like Front line, Saturn Surplus, TNJ Murray...

It would be nice to have links to Ken's site and a few of the others also.

Just a thought, I'm sure you're pretty busy with all of this. Maybe a locked thread could contain all the links with a brief description of their products. You can add other links as people suggest them. Then they could just scroll through them 'til they found what they were looking for.

just a minor suggestion- could you move the
"Mark all forums read" to the top right of the site page instead of the current position bottom left?

The "mark all forums read" link is on the top right hand corner on the screens I made up. (the green ones) If you are using the "subsilver" screens (blue) thats the basic default setup. You can switch to whichever you prefer in your profile settings.....

Moose53,

What do you think about adding a library section for downloading manuals?I think this would help those folks just starting in the hobby.

a file section for manuals is in the works, along with a M151 Spotlight and a real time chat room. So far I've made about 25 modifications to this board, although most of them are invisible to you guys... I'm new to this programming language though so things are taking a while for me to figure out how to do them..lol

Hang in there the best is yet to come!

Hey Moose-
I am into Winchester lever-action guns, from the Cowboy days, and I belong to a forum where we chitter chatter about those too. Ironically you should see how off topic that site can be. All the while though it's self-policed and runs real well. Anyway I mention this because that site goes down alot. I think it's because the site takes on too many pictures? What is the capacity of this site and if it does require funding is it a lot? I want to make sure you can sustain this site so please let us know if you need help or if we need to be seeking advertising or something. With how quickly this site is growing I'd think we might be able to get some sponsors or... Anyway just thinking more long term. I am so pleased with what's happening thus far :D
