A2 motorpool rebuild
Got the body today currently awaiting my parts from storage
Budd number 11639700
S/N 15217
Would like to try to identify its year etc
I numbers of the hood which I’m told came from this mutt which is 02KX7271 numbers where pretty clear on the hood but it was heavily rusted though so I’m gonna use my old one
I thought the number were not written on A2s so it might be the wrong hood
Update muttguru informed me that it is a Ford 1971
Any thoughts on the numbers?
Big item I need is windshield lower hinges.... they were removed and I have no idea how to get some....

On the hinges you will have to make sure you get the right lower half to match the top half. A1 and A2 are different. You can use either set but they have to be both halves of the set. There are numbers stamped on the half you have. I am guessing this is an A1 and if it is an A1 windshield you can be pretty sure they have not been changed. On the hood number the X should not be there I don't believe. You might want to pm those numbers to Muttguru, he will be able to tell you more about them.

From searching the forum 02K is from 73 74
It’s a full A2 and I have an A2 windshield along with a brand new set of A2 windshield upper hinges....... the guy thought they went on the body but they bolt to the windshield frame itself....... I didn’t look hard enough should have noticed
The mutt is also moddded for ROPS fully fromt he factory the mod is fairly clean seat belts still installed

Since I’m at the mercy of the government for my drive train and most of my tools are 2 months away I’m starting with redoing the brakes.
Last night I pulled the master cylinder out and removed the only brake drum that as still installed
Tomorrow I’m going. To try and crack the lines and blow them out if they are any good still. They are very intacted but are probably rusted on the inside
Luckily the master cyclinder was an easy out with the air Rachet
The only brake drum was in very good internal shape the adjusted spun fine and I was able to retract the brakes and remove the drum pretty easily

Did Ken give you any info on the numbers on the body tag? That is not a 1970 Ford A2 body, wrong front fenders. The First Ford A2's had a straight across transition instead of the upsweep between the fender and grill.Husker wrote:Got the body today currently awaiting my parts from storage

What I got was 1971 he said the budd number and hood numbers matched and gave me the rest of the SN to put on the data plate basicly

I may be wrong on that, I am thinking 1970. They did change the fenders in 71 but I don't know how far in. Too early, didn't finish coffee yet.

Struggling though removing the lifting eyes I bent my big pry bar trying to doing them off it’s counterclockwise to remove them right

Did you knock the locking ring loose first? Yes, counterclockwise but the lock has to be loosened first.

On mine I used a BFH and whacked it good, 1 or 2 more than once

Did the same, sprayed, hammer, punch, etc. Finally took a maul and an iron rod and whacked the hell out of them. Two to three swings and they moved a bit. Back off a turn or two and you should be able to unscrew both hub and ring together then cleanup for reinstall.
