spark plugs

Unread post by tecknomage » April 21st, 2018, 11:04 pm

need spark plugs and /or adaptors for "normal" plugs for my MUTT.
Got sad news, bought a M151A2. when it got shipped, discovered the rear susp. is an A1. has A2 fenders, steering column, lights...
But now need plugs just to get her running good

Welcome to the site, plugs have become scarce, it you want to stay original, expect to pay $15-20 ea. If you have A1 suspension, then it's probably an A1, I would suspect someone put A2 fender repair kit on it, different steering columns are not uncommon. post some pics if you get a chance. Hambone

What help are you looking for? I am trying to see what you have there in the way of a vehicle, I see the A1 rear suspension but I cant see the front lug nuts to see if they are A1 or A2. I do not see a BUDD tag on the cowl and I can't see the front floors to look for scupper drains or the sides of the vehicle to see if it has side drains at the front of the footwells. It has an A2 motor but that really does not mean much since they were changed around all the time. Does it have an A1 or A2 grill? I can see that it had at least one or two rails replaced underneath, did you look very closely to see if it was cut and maybe a front A2 was welded to a rear A1? There is a LOT of hairy undercoat under there that can hide a world of sins! We need some more pictures but not quite so close up of the underneath.Especially around the area straight across from the gas filler, that is the area they were cut. Everything can be replaced except the main rails in the center, those are the ones you have to look closely at to see if they were welded.

Now you have me thinking half and half, that would take a good cut, maybe they used the repair rails to space it right???, more pics will tell the tale.

I have seen it several times, the spec called for removal of extra material from the cut so they could not (technically) be welded back together.

Appears to be an exhaust leak at manifold to exhaust pipe gasket.
