Re: New to the Mutt game, had some questions
thaks yall, so i figured out how to post pics of the Mutt, It is a little big so sorry if i need to downsize it. Also some other people asked to see it in a different thread I am on, is it a faux pas to post the same pics in different threads?

151's and Harley's, two expensive hobby's. I think the Harley has the 151 beat for expensive parts though.

I would get rid of that seat and put 2 correct ones in. They are surprisingly ok to sit in, I think. And that way you can install the correct fuel tank, at least I don't see any in the pictures.

Re: New to the Mutt game, had some questions
Ben, you've found it. The BUDD S/N 33407 is the unique body number/VIN for the vehicle. Do you have the original dash dataplate or any record of the US Army Registration Number (hood number)?breynos2 wrote:I had a real hard time finding a vin number but I did find this under the hood.

Re: New to the Mutt game, had some questions
Hi ken. No I don't have anything else. Where is the hood number located and what does it mean. I am trying to find the year so I can register this bad boy.
Thanks
Ben

Re: New to the Mutt game, had some questions
I have a '66 M151A1 BUDD SN #33979 if thats any help, its 512 apart from yours... Scott O&O
Re: New to the Mutt game, had some questions
Ben, (and Scott),
here's what I can tell you. I have a few records of BUDD numbers around yours and the ones I have were delivered Sept/Oct 1966. From what I can determine, Ford was finishing off its DA20-113-AMC-02787 contract and at the same time was starting deliveries of its new DA20-113-AMC-07507 contract. I presume Ford was producing at two plants instead of just the one, as before.
As for finding your hood number, as your A1 has been painted camo, the hood number would have been re-located. It could be stencilled on the dash at the passenger side or it may be on the underside of the hood. It could also have been obliterated when it was processed through the DRMO but look very closely....even when painted over, sometimes the letters and numbers can still be detected under the paint.
Let me know if you find anything.

Re: New to the Mutt game, had some questions
Thanks Ken, ill do my best to see what I can scrape up. I have to go before judge and plead my ownership case for the mutt so I'm glad that I have a year estimate I can use.
