M151 engine

Unread post by Carboarius » February 28th, 2015, 10:58 pm

Who made the M151A1 engine? Was it used in any other applications? I was wondering as I hoped to be able to have a close engine in maybe a civilian production model to cross reference for parts. Thank you, Carboarius

Not 100% sure but I don't think this engine has been used in civilian applications or anything really close to it. Believe this engine was specifically designed for the military. Apart from the M151 it was used in the Hawk loader.

This was a pretty much purpose built engine for the M-151. It was used in the Hawk missile loader but if you look at the data plate on the motor in the loader it says M-151 right on it. They were "borrowed" for the loaders from M-151 stock. They were never used in civilian use and cross reference parts are very limited. You will find a list in the Wiki.

Parts for 151 engines are still available in the marketplace.
Chasing around for substitutes might not make much sense.

I heard that the engine was manufactured by Hurcules, did Ford buy out Hurcules. Or did Ford just purchase the engines from Hurcules?

Thanks for the link. Looks funny, as if they would be still available. Same as the M35 engines above the M151 engine

Yes, thank you. It is nice they have a website, and it is handy it lists all the specs.
